Queertherapie as a Complex Adaptive EcosystemNarratives, our narratives, are living, situated data.In this model, narratives are not fixed pieces of information to be analyzed, but realities in flux. Life experiences here are emotional, bodily, traumatic, or joyful, often marked by power dynamics, stigmatization, invisibilization, and pathologization. Our identities, unstabilized, sometimes contradictory, in the process of being formulated or transformed, find here a space for understanding and being heard. These narratives are never neutral; they are historically and socially situated. Therapy cannot apply a universal framework, given that it works with the singular, which is in perpetual transformation. The heart of the ecosystem lies in a process, not a fixed technique, but a mode of interaction such as dialogue, a space where signifiers are negotiated, rather than a venue for top-down interpretation.Deconstruction, questioning assumptions, and exploration, or opening up possibilities for identity and narrative, are prioritized here. The subject does not reveal itself; it transforms. Transformation occurs in the very act of speaking and being in relationship. The process is therefore unpredictable and creative; what emerges are transformations rather than normalizations.Unlike traditional therapeutic models, which aim for a return to the norm, the emergences of this ecosystem remain open-ended. As subjectivities are renewed, new ways of understanding oneself, and feeling legitimate, emerge.Empowerment and agency, that is, the increased capacity to act, set boundaries, and identify one’s needs are strengthened, and new narratives, or a re-narration of the self, take hold, breaking free from dominant scripts.Therapeutic success is not conformity, but the expansion of the realm of possibilities.Queertherapie is therefore an ecosystem in which the essential goal is not to apply a rigid method, but to create a dialogue where everyone participates in the construction of meaning — an ecosystem within which systemic properties are based on rhizomatic nonlinearity, an ecosystem in which there is no progression in fixed stages.A session can profoundly transform a perception, only to be followed by a step backward. This is similar to complex systems where small variations produce unpredictable effects.Queertherapie fosters sensitivity to change. The system reacts strongly to a change in language, a political event, or a personal realization. The therapeutic ecosystem is permeable to the outside world, in which the therapist is not a neutral outside expert, but rather a part of the system. The therapist is affected by the relationship, continuously adjusting their stance, thereby allowing the framework itself to evolve. This approaches a relational ethic in which power is redistributed, echoing critiques of dominant discourses.
